The Monthly Huddle (July 2026):
The Power of Being Present
The greatest opportunities we have each day are found in the decision to be present.
In athletics, growth and development happen during practice. Players who consistently miss workouts, arrive distracted, or fail to focus during instruction often miss valuable opportunities to improve. The opportunity was there, but it was not maximized.
The same principle applies in the classroom. Missing class, failing to prepare, or not paying attention can lead to poor outcomes on assignments and tests. Success isn't determined by what happens on test day; it's determined by the choices made in the days and weeks leading up to it.
The workplace is no different. Opportunities for advancement, leadership, and growth are often earned by those who show up consistently, stay engaged, and remain committed to their responsibilities. When we are distracted, disengaged, or simply going through the motions, we can miss opportunities that may never come around again.
The impact extends beyond sports, school, and work. In our personal lives, relationships suffer when we are not present. Conversations become shallow. Intentions become blurred. Connections weaken when our attention is divided between the people in front of us and the distractions around us.
Being present is about more than physically showing up. It is about being mindful, mentally engaged, emotionally invested, and deliberate with our intention and attention.
Every day presents opportunities to learn, grow, lead, encourage, and connect. The question is not whether those opportunities exist...
The question is whether we are present enough to recognize them.
Coach Cam's Closing Thought
Be deliberate with your intention and attention. The opportunities that shape your future are often found in the moments right in front of you.
